Work on the Güzelyurt-Lefke dual carriageway is near completion.
The Minister of Public Works and Transportation Erhan Arıklı on Tuesday examined the construction work taking place on the road, which is planned to be opened on July 20.
Work is continuing on the final 7km stretch of the Güzelyurt-Lefke dual carriageway between the Doğancı junction and Lefke.
While the last few kilometres of the road are being asphalted, concrete jersey barriers are being installed to divide the carriage way.
The Minister of Public Works and Transportation Erhan Arıklı who inspected the work being carried out also met with the Lefke Mayor Aziz Kaya, the head of the Lefke District Office, non-governmental organizations and officials from the European University of Lefke.
Speaking during the visit, Arıklı said that the road, once completed will make Lefke more accessible, adding that the area would be attracting more visitors following the completion of the road.
“This road will contribute greatly to the development of Lefke and the region. With the opening of the Gemikonağı Port, there will be no obstacles left for the development of Lefke and its surroundings. I would like to express my gratitude to the Republic of Türkiye once again for bringing this important project to life.”
