President Ersin Tatar said on Tuesday that he was following the developments on the power cuts which have crippled the country closely since Sunday.

In a written statement, President Tatar said, “I have been closely following the power cuts that have been taking place in our country since Sunday night due to a fuel shortage. I am in contact with both the government and the KIB-TEK administration,” said Tatar.

He noted that as the Prime Minister Ünal Üstel had explained, the power cuts were caused by fuel shortages due to the failure of the firm that won the fuel tender to fulfil its commitments.

“While intensive work is continuing so that the power cuts come to an end and energy distribution returns to normal, I hope that the situation will not be repeated. I will continue to be a close follower of the matter,” said Tatar in his written statement.
