President Ersin Tatar has said that the Turkish Cypriot people continued to walk its own path with determination on the 48th anniversary of the Peace Operation.
The president also said that the international isolations imposed on the TRNC will not demoralize the Turkish Cypriot people as efforts to reach a solution on the basis of equality continues.
Addressing the 2nd International Peace and Freedom Archery Cup and the Flight March organized by the Archery Foundation and the Yunus Emre Institute on Sunday evening, President Ersin Tatar reminded that the Turkish Cypriot people continued to be subjected to great injustice and isolation.
He however added that Turkish Cypriots will not be disheartened by these embargoes as they continue efforts towards reaching a solution on the basis of equality.
Stressing that despite all problems the Turkish Cypriot people faced, they continued on their path with determination on the 48th anniversary of the Peace Operation, Tatar noted that motherland Türkiye has and always will stand by the Turkish Cypriot people.
He also added that efforts to tell the world of the Turkish Cypriot people’s struggle and plight continued with the support of motherland Türkiye.
Stating that the 1974 Turkish Peace Operation had brought peace to both the north and the south of Cyprus, Tatar reminded that the Turkish Cypriot people had been subjected to great oppression in the years leading to Turkiye’s timely intervention.
“The Turkish Cypriot people are a separate people that wage a struggle in Cyprus on the basis of legitimacy and within the framework of its vested rights and sovereignty. The Turkish Cypriot people who were one of the founding peoples established their own state after they were forced out of the partnership state in 1963. While we continue on our way as the TRNC, justice will be served and the Turkish Cypriot people will take its rightful place within the international community. We need to continue to work together, with determination to carry the TRNC forward” the president added.
