Former BRT Director Hüseyin Çobanoğlu passed away on Wednesday after suffering a brief illness.
A ceremony was held for Çobanoğlu at the Bayrak Radio Television Corporation where he also served as head of the Board of Directors on Thursday morning before he was laid to rest at the Lefkoşa Cemetery following noon prayers.
The Chairman of BRT’s Board of Directors Salih Can Doratlı, Prime Minister Ünal Üstel, the Speaker of Parliament Zorlu Töre and President Ersin Tatar also delivered eulogies at the ceremony held at BRT, paying tribute to the Çobanoğlu’s services and contributions to the Turkish Cypriot people.
The late Çobanoğlu had started his career at BRT as a technician on January 15, 1972 becoming Director in 1999.
Following his retirement, the former director was active within the National Unity Party (UBP).
He is survived by his wife, two children and three grandchildren.
Meanwhile, the Chairman of BRT’s Board of Directors Salih Can Doratlı, Bayrak Radio Television Corporation Employees Union (BAY-SEN), government officials and political parties issued messages of condolences for Çobanoğlu.
