Hellim producers complained about the unilateral decision taken by the Greek Cypriot side for hellim which is a common product of the Cyprus geography.

Noting that they had equal rights with the Greek Cypriot side regarding hellim, the producers stressed that it was out of question for them to allow these rights to be usurped.

Hellim Producers evaluated the hellim issue at a meeting held at the Cyprus Turkish Chamber of Industry on Tuesday.

During the meeting, the producers discussed the unilateral decision taken by the Greek Cypriot Ministry of Agriculture, Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Milk Producers and manufacturers regarding the change in the registration of hellim.

The producers also expressed their discomfort that the necessary changes regarding the registration of hellim were made unilaterally without consulting with the Turkish Cypriot producers and authorities.

Issuing a statement after the meeting, the producers noted that hellim was a common geographical product adding that any steps or initiatives on hellim should be taken together.

“We have equal rights with the Greek Cypriot side regarding hellim. It is out of the question for us to allow this right of ours to be usurped” the producers stressed.
