President Ersin Tatar has welcomed the approval of the Municipalities Amendment Law, stating that the law will allow reforms in local administrations to be implemented swiftly.

In a statement issued on Thursday, President Ersin Tatar welcomed the amendment made to the Municipalities Law which will reduce the number of municipalities in the TRNC from 28 to 18.

He said he believed that reforms in the local administrations will be swiftly implemented bringing advantages to both the public and the municipalities.

“The merging of various municipalities will allow higher and better quality service to the public. Our joint goal is to create municipalities which will meet the expectations of the public as well as current conditions,” Tatar said.
