President Ersin Tatar returned to the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) last night after completing his contacts in the Turkish capital of Ankara.
While on his visit to Ankara President Tatar was presented with the “Seymenbaşı Certificate”.
At the ceremony held at the Ankara Club Association, President Tatar was dressed in the Seymenbaşı Cepken (ceremonial outfit) and presented with the Seymenbaşı Certificate.
Delivering a speech during the ceremony President Tatar said he had received one of the most honourable gifts of his life and thanked the association officials on behalf of both himself and the people of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus.
Stating that the National Struggle initiated by Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk in 1919 has been passed down from generation to generation, Tatar said, “now we are witnessing the Greek-Greek Cypriot duo in the Aegean Sea and the Eastern Mediterranean who are carrying out actions against our nation without any shame”.
Noting that security issues have become essential due to the emergence of hydrocarbon resources in the Eastern Mediterranean, Tatar stated that important steps have been taken by Türkiye and the TRNC against the selfish policy pursued by the Greek-Greek Cypriot duo on many issues, especially the protection of their sovereign rights.
Tatar pointed out that all that has been done within this framework demonstrates Türkiye’s support to the TRNC, the commitment of the TRNC and its people to Türkiye, and the national policy that it carries out in full harmony with Türkiye.
