The Speaker of the Legislative Assembly of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) Zorlu Töre on Thursday highlighted the importance of Türkiye’s guarantees for the Turkish Cypriot people.

He said that Türkiye will continue to protect the Turkish Cypriot people.

Speaking at a festival held in the Çubuk district of Ankara, the Speaker of Parliament Zorlu Töre said that the Turkish existence will continue in Cyprus.

“No one should attempt to kick Türkiye out of Cyprus. We cannot tolerate another situation such as the departure of the Ottomans from the island in 1878,” he said.

Töre pointed out that Cyprus was a national cause for Türkiye and that Türkiye will continue to be the safeguard of peace and security on the island.

He also said that the Turkish Cypriot people will never abandon their state.
