President Ersin Tatar’s Special Representative Ergün Olgun met with UN Under-Secretary-General for Political and Peacebuilding Affairs Rosemary DiCarlo at the UN Headquarters on Monday.
President Ersin Tatar’s Special Representative Ergün Olgun held contacts on the Cyprus issue at the UN Headquarters in New York.
Olgun conveyed the Turkish Cypriot side’s position to the UN Under-Secretary-General for Political and Peacebuilding Affairs Rosemary DiCarlo.
Special Representative Olgun also raised the six cooperation proposals tabled earlier by the Turkish Cypriot side, which were prepared with a win-win philosophy aimed at contributing to the stability of the two sides, the island of Cyprus and the Eastern Mediterranean region, sharing details with his interlocutor.
He demanded from the UN to take on an initiative to encourage the Greek Cypriot side for the acceptance and implementation of the proposals.
Olgun also conveyed to his interlocutor the position of the Turkish Cypriot side, which Türkiye fully supports, that a new and official negotiation process can only start once the sovereign equality and equal international status of the TRNC, which is a vested right of the Turkish Cypriot People, is accepted.
