President Ersin Tatar who is continuing his contacts in New York received the Secretary General of the Organization of Turkic States Baghdad Amreyev on Tuesday.
He said that as a Turkish State, the support of the Organization of Turkic countries was very important for the TRNC and underlined the need to further strengthen relations with these countries.
President Ersin Tatar, who is in New York as part of the 77th UN General Assembly, received the Secretary General of the Organization of Turkic States, Baghdad Amreyev, at the Türkevi, where the TRNC Representative Office is located.
Foreign Minister Tahsin Ertuğruloğlu, Foreign Ministry Undersecretary Kemal Köprülü, TRNC New York Representative Mehmet Dana and Washington Representative Mustafa Lakadamyalı were also present at the meeting.
The issues of improving relations and increasing solidarity between the TRNC and the Organization of Turkic States were discussed during the meeting.
President Tatar underlined that as a Turkish state, the support given to the TRNC by the Organization of Turkic States was very important and that the bond between them should be further strengthened.
President Tatar also briefed Amreyev on the latest developments on the Cyprus issue.
Secretary General Amreyev for his part stressed that the Organization of Turkic States also attached importance to relations with the TRNC.
