Foreign Minister Tahsin Ertuğruloğlu said that the call of the Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan at the United Nations General Assembly for the official recognition of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus greatly pleased the Turkish Cypriot people.
Inviting the international community to pay heed to President Erdoğan’s calls, Ertuğruloğlu expressed his deepest gratitude to the Turkish president.
Foreign Minister Tahsin Ertuğruloğlu said on Tuesday that Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan’s call for official recognition of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus during his speech at the 77th General Assembly of the United Nations, and before the UN member states was welcomed by the Turkish Cypriot people.
“These statements of President Erdoğan indicate that we are at a turning point on the Cyprus issue. These statements are a declaration to the world that the official recognition of the existence of two states that will live in peace in Cyprus is the only solution to the Cyprus issue” Ertuğruloğlu said in a written statement.
“We expect the injustice done to the Turkish Cypriot people, who have been subjected to persecution, to be ended as soon as possible” he stressed.
“We invite the international community to pay heed to President Erdogan’s call. The time has come and passed for the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus to take its rightful place within the international community. I express my deepest gratitude to President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan,” Ertuğruloğlu added.
