Tatar receives Türkiye-Azerbaijan Strategy-Economy Club

President Ersin Tatar on Tuesday received the head of the Türkiye-Azerbaijan Strategic and Economy Club Koray Bozat and his accompanying delegation.

Speaking during the visit, Tatar underlined the importance of the support of the Turkic states in carrying the Turkish Cypriot people’s struggle forward.

Receiving the delegation on Tuesday, President Ersin Tatar said that the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) had embraced the motto, “Three states, one nation” while continuing its struggle for recognition and existence.

“The support of the Turkic States Organisation and the Turkic states is extremely important for us and our struggle to promote the just cause of the Turkish Cypriot people,” he said.

Tatar also described Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan’s lastest address to the UN General Assembly as historic, adding that it was of utmost importance to increase contacts and relations with other countries.

“We are a separate state, with its own people, its own territorial integrity, borders and institutions. We meet all the necessary criteria of being a state. The Republic of Türkiye officially recognises us, which is extremely valuable for us. It is our hope that we develop and further improve relations with Azerbaijan,” the president said.

Tatar also said that the Turkish Cypriot people stood by the people of Azeribaijan on the issue of Nagorno Karabakh.

For his part, the President of the Azerbaijan Strategic and Economy Club Koray Bozat briefed the president on the international events they organised.

Bozat also invited President Tatar to the 5th Türkiye-Azerbaijan Unity and Solidarity Awards which will be held in Istanbul on November 23.

Meanwhile, the delegation was also received by the Speaker of the Legislative Assembly of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus Zorlu Töre.

Töre drew attention to the strong bond that existed between the two countries and highlighted the need to further developing relations between the TRNC and Azerbaijan.
