Acting President and Parliamentary Speaker Zorlu Töre took part in a program on BRT and evaluated the latest topics on the country’s agenda.
Acting President and Parliamentary Speaker Zorlu Töre attended a live program on BRT this morning and said that the committees in parliament have been working throughout the summer and reminded that the new legislative year will begin on Monday, October 3.
He also stated that due to the local elections in December, in accordance with the parliament’s decisions, the negotiations on the budget may be delayed until after the local elections are completed.
Noting that although the government wanted to lower the election bans to 40 days prior to the local elections to be held on December 25, Töre said that this issue has yet to be clarified.
Also criticizing the actions of the main opposition Republican Turkish Party (CTP) regarding the location of the Presidency and the Parliamentary building, Töre said that the same mentality had previously opposed the construction of the Eastern Mediterranean University, the water supply project and the continental shelf protocol.
Töre also stated that they were very happy with the call of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan to recognize the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus at the UN General Assembly, and noted that with this call, now the authorized authorities can work on this issue.
