The 21st International Olive Festival organised by the Girne Municipality gets underway this Friday on October 7.
The first olive saplings will also be planted at the festival this year within the framework of the “Green city to the green island” project.
A press conference was held on Tuesday announcing the details of the upcoming festival.
Speaking at the meeting, the Mayor of Girne Nidai Güngör said that 50,000 olive saplings will be handed out at the festival, including workshops to provide training on olive cultivation.
A workshop titled “Green city to the green island Olive” is also being held at the Girne Municipality until October 6 which will include presentations on pruning, fertilising, harvesting and protecting olive trees.
