The Social Democratic Party (TDP) and the Communal Liberation Party-New Forces (TKP) have united under the name Social Democratic Party.

While the Social Democratic Party’s name will be used, the Communal Liberation Party-New Forces logo will be used for the new party.

The decision to merge the two parties was announced at a press conference in the capital Lefkoşa today.

The leader of the Social Democratic Party Mine Atlı and the leader of the Communal Liberation Party New Forces Mehmet Çakıcı announced that they joined forces under a single roof.

The two called on other smaller leftist parties to follow suit in order to be more effective in their political struggle.

They also expressed the hope that they will be able to have the party’s charter approved prior to the local elections.
