The Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) will participate as an observer at the historic summit of the Organization of Turkic States to be held in Samarkand on November 11.
President Ersin Tatar and Justice and Development Party (AKP) Deputy Chairman and Chairman of the Council of Elders of the Organization of Turkic States Binali Yıldırım announced the TRNC’s observer membership at the International Symposium of the Turkic World in Erzincan.
Stressing that the Turkish Cypriot people will not accept a federal settlement with embargoes and isolations, President Tatar said “the Republic of Türkiye and Turkic states support us.”
President Ersin Tatar attended the International Symposium of the Turkic World which was hosted by Erzincan Binali Yıldırım University and held under the auspices of the Chairman of the Council of Elders of the Organization of Turkic States Binali Yıldırm and the Turkish Ministry of Culture and Tourism.
The Chairman of the Council of Elders of the Organization of Turkic States Binali Yıldırım provided information at the symposium on the structure of the Organization of Turkic States and drew attention to the just cause of the TRNC.
He announced that the TRNC will be attending the historic summit to be held in Samarkand on November 11 as an observer state and that all necessary preparations were being made.
President Ersin Tatar for his part expressed his happiness over the granting of observer status to the TRNC by the Organization of Turkic States.
“I would like to share with you the great joy I felt upon being informed by the Chairman of the Council of Elders of the Organization of Turkic States Binali Yıldırm and its Secretary General Baghdad Amreyev that the TRNC has been accepted as an observer member of the Organization of Turkic States at the meeting in Samarkand next month. I sincerely thank Turkish President Erdoğan, who is with us today and who supports us in this struggle” Tatar said.
Touching upon the Cyprus issue, the president said that efforts were being made to wipe out Turkish Cypriots in Cyprus through a federal settlement as well as embargoes and isolation.
“They are mistaken. The Republic of Türkiye and the Turkic states support us. This unity and solidarity is our strength in the face of all the games being played to destroy us. We are an extension of the Turkish nation in the Eastern Mediterranean,” he said.
Tatar reminded that the Turkish Cypriot side would only return to the negotiating table as and when its sovereign equality and equal international status is recognized.
He once again hailed the speech delivered by Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan at the UN General Assembly as a historic development.
