The TRNC’s Ambassador to Ankara İsmet Korukoğlu paid a visit to the Chairman of the Board of the Ankara Chamber of Commerce (ATO) Gürsel Baran.
Global developments and the Cyprus issue were among the issues discussed during the meeting.
According to a statement released by the Ankara Chamber of Commerce, Gürsel Baran stressed during the meeting that the TRNC cannot be considered separately from Türkiye.
Baran also stressed the importance of the official recognition of two states on the island that will co-exist in peace and tranquillity.
Ambassador İsmet Korukoğlu for his part stressed that it was not possible to continue negotiations on the Cyprus issue within the framework of the old parameters and that the TRNC should be recognized as a separate and independent state.
Korukoğlu also underlined that it was necessary to work with chambers of commerce and industry in order to strengthen the TRNC’s economy.
