President Ersin Tatar has said that students from various countries who were studying university in the TRNC were the country’s greatest wealth.

Tatar was speaking at the opening ceremony of the Girne American University’s 2022-2023 Academic Year at the spectrum Convention Centre.

Stressing that the greatest strength of the Turkish nation was a strong family structure, President Tatar said that Girne American University had become a brand.

Addressing the students, the president said, “You came to the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus to get a good education.”

Emphasizing the importance of uninterrupted education, Tatar noted that education had been carried out online during the pandemic and that as a result students studying at the Girne American University had been able to continue their education uninterruptedly no matter where they were in the world.

The Speaker of the Parliament Zorlu Töre, who also attended the opening ceremony, said in his speech that there were students from 136 countries enrolled at TRNC universities which meant indirect international recognition of the island state.
