PM Üstel inspects Girne-Alsancak dual carriageway as work resumes

Work being carried out to complete the newest section of the Girne-Alsancak Dual Carriageway is continuing.

Prime Minister Ünal Üstel on Thursday morning inspected the resumption of the road works.

He was accompanied by the Minister of Public Works and Transportation Erhan Arıklı.

Work on the second stage of the Girne-Alsancak dual carriageway resumed on Thursday following a temporary delay.

The first 6.1km section of the road had been completed in 2021 but work has since stalled due to financial and technical reasons.

The second 800m section of the road which will cost ₺36.6m is expected to be completed in January 2023.

Prime Minister Ünal Üstel who inspected the work being carried out said that the ultimate goal was to extend the dual carriageway all the way up to the hotels’ area in Lapta and later to Karşıyaka.

He also said that there were plans to construct a dual carriageway to the east of Girne through Çatalköy.

The Minister of Public Works and Transportation Erhan Arıklı who accompanied the prime minister during the inspections thanked the premier for his efforts in making it possible to resume the project.
