The premiere of the movie “Teşgilat-Minalayalar Zamanı” which was directed by Eray Gündoğmuş, written by Erşen Ummanel and shot by the Mormenekşe Women’s Union was held on Sunday.
President Ersin Tatar and the Speaker of the Republic’s Assembly Zorlu Töre delivered speeches at the gala event held at the Rauf Raif Denktaş Culture and Congress Centre in Gazimağusa.
Tatar, who began his speech by thanking everyone who contributed to the production of the film, noted that Turkish Cypriots enjoyed their freedom today as a result of the painful sacrifices and the struggles waged in the past.
The Speaker of Parliament Zorlu Töre for his part said that the Turkish Cypriot people had gone through painful and desperate days but never once had they given up their struggle for existence.
Reminding that many lives had been lost in the fight for their country regardless of their gender, Töre noted that freedom was achieved as a result of a great resistance.
Noting that the Turkish Cypriot people were born again in 1974, he said, “may God not separate us again from our motherland and leaves us without a state.”
Töre also said that it was out of the question to abandon Türkiye’s guarantees and that everyone should work to protect and preserve the TRNC.
“It has not been easy to establish this state; it was not handed on a silver platter. It was entrusted to us by those who were massacred in Taşkent, Atlılar, Muratağa and many other places,” he added.
