Two members of the Committee on Missing Persons in Cyprus (CMP), Leonidas Pantelides from the Greek Cypriot office and Hakkı Müftüzade from the Turkish Cypriot office, visited the excavation site at Troulli (Trulli).
According to a written statement released by the committee, the members were informed about the work of the archaeology team by Team Leader of the Committee on Missing Persons Ourania Michael.
According to the statement, after receiving information by witnesses the team started excavation work in August 2022 and encountered human remains.
The team continued the excavation manually for a period of two months.
Searching for three people who went missing in 1963-1964, the team continued digging by hand and found a fourth person in the excavation area.
In the statement, the members of the Missing Persons Committee also stressed the importance of bringing those with information to the fore.
“All kind of information is valuable to us. We urge the public once again to get in touch with our teams to share any information they might have” the statement added.
