President Ersin Tatar stressed that Turkish Cypriots living abroad were not alone and that the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) state was behind them.
President Ersin Tatar who flew to London with first lady Sibel Tatar last Saturday returned to the country on Wednesday morning.
The President was greeted by the Speaker of the Republic’s Assembly Zorlu Töre, the Minister of Agriculture and Natural Resources Dursun Oğuz and other officials at Ercan Airport.
Evaluating his London contacts to the Turkish News Agency (TAK), Tatar stated that he held very fruitful contacts in London.
Stating that he had a very busy schedule, meeting with all sections of Turkish Cypriots living in the UK, he reminded that he came together with football players, business people, associations, institutions and councils and visited schools within the framework of his visit.
Tatar added that alongside his meetings with the Turkish Cypriot community, he also held meetings with the House of Lords and various politicians, in order to make the voice of the Turkish Cypriot people heard, drawing attention to unfair embargoes once again, and raising the issues of direct flights and direct trade.
Expressing his satisfaction with the importance the Turkish Cypriot community attached to football, sports and youth, the President noted that, within the scope of his visit, they provided support for the Turkish Cypriot mixed football team to visit the country on the 39th anniversary of the TRNC.
Pointing out that contacts between the UK and the TRNC will increase after the pandemic, Tatar stressed that they attached great importance to the expectations of citizens living abroad.
Expressing his hope that every single means will be used in the most effective way within the framework of mutual cooperation for the strengthening and development of the TRNC, Tatar pointed out that everything had become easier thanks to technological advancements.
