Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan made statements regarding the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus receiving observer membership at the Organisation of Turkic States (OTS).

He said, “The decision we made in the Organization of Turkic States regarding the TRNC is valid and we do not need to get approval from any country. The matter is closed”.

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan held a press conference at the Bali International Conference Centre on the last day of the G20 Leaders’ Summit in Indonesia.

Upon being asked a question regarding the recent decision by the Organisation of Turkic States to grant the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus observer membership, Greece going to Brussels and a message of condemnation regarding the observer membership from the EU, Turkish President Erdoğan said that the OTS decision is valid.

He said that they do not need validation from any other country and that the issue is not open for discussion.

“We will continue to give the necessary response at the right time to countries that have a negative reaction to the OTS decision” said Erdoğan.
