President Ersin Tatar has said that the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) and Türkiye will continue to walk the same path, one that is solid and full of salvation.

He said that Türkiye’s guarantees in Cyprus will continue and that the TRNC will achieve important strides on the path to international recognition.

Receiving the head of the Türkiye Combatant War Veterans Association and a group of Cyprus veterans from Ankara, President Ersin Tatar said that the 1974 Turkish Peace Operation had changed the island’s history.

He said that the foundations of the TRNC were laid as a result of this turning point.

Expressing gratitude to the veterans and martyrs who sacrificed their lives, Tatar said that the process following the Turkish Peace Operation had strengthened the hand of the Turkish Cypriot people, bringing them to the level of becoming an important part of the Turkish nation.

“I always say that the TRNC is the most successful accomplishment of the Turkic world in the last 50 years. The TRNC is the success story of Türkiye and the Turkish Cypriot people,” he added.

Tatar also said that Turkish troops were here in Cyprus to stay, that Türkiye’s guarantees could never be removed or watered down and that important progress will be achieved in promoting and achieving international recognition of the TRNC.
