The 39th anniversary of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) was celebrated with a reception held in the US capital Washington.
TRNC Washington Representative Ambassador Mustafa Lakadamyalı and his wife Milhan Lakadamyalı gave a reception in celebration of the 39th anniversary of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus.
A large number of guests, consisting of Turkish, Azerbaijani and Pakistani ambassadors and members of some other diplomatic missions, representatives of institutions and organizations, and TRNC and Turkish citizens living in Washington all attended the reception.
Delivering a speech during the reception Ambassador Lakadamyalı said that the Turkish Cypriot people fearlessly resisted the Greek Cypriot atrocities for decades, died but did not give up on their freedom.
According to a statement made by the representative office, Lakadamyalı noted that the Turkish Cypriots, who did not leave their homeland and did not compromise their sovereignty, crowned the struggle for their existence on the island of Cyprus by establishing their own state in 1983.
Stating that the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus is not at the place that it deserves within the international community, Lakadamyalı said despite this fact the Turkish Cypriot people, under all circumstances, look to the future with confidence, under the roof of their own state with their developing economy, strengthening their democracy with the support of the Motherland Türkiye.
