The Speaker of the Legislative Assembly of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) Zorlu Töre said that the Turkish nation, the Turkish Armed Forces and motherland Türkiye were everything for the Turkish Cypriot people.
“We cannot expect justice from the United Nations (UN) or the European Union (EU),” said Töre who received a delegation from the Women’s Branch of the Justice and Development Party’s TRNC Representative Office.
Speaking during the visit paid to him, the TRNC Parliamentary Speaker Zorlu Töre expressed his reservations about the impartiality of the UN and members of the UN Security Council.
He said that the success of the UN, particularly when it came to its stance regarding human rights violations against Turkish Cypriots, was questionable.
Töre reminded that the UN had remained a bystander to the atrocities committed against Turkish Cypriots in 1964 and the period that followed.
“The Turkish nation, the Turkish Armed Forces and motherland Türkiye are everything for us. We cannot expect justice from the UN or the EU,” said the parliamentary speaker, criticizing the EU for its recent warning following the admission of the TRNC as an observer member to the Organisation for Turkic States.
