The Minister of National Education Nazım Çavuşoğlu also met with Gambian Vice-President Badara Alieu Joof.
During the meeting, Çavuşoğlu and Joof exchanged views on the situation of Gambian students studying at TRNC universities, developments in higher education and studies that can be carried out in education.
The Minister of National Education Nazım Çavuşoğlu came together with the Vice-President of Gambia Badara Alieu Joof on Thursday.
During the meeting, Minister Çavuşoğlu conveyed to the Gambian Vice President Joof the importance of developing mutual relations between the two countries as well as the cooperation that will be carried out in the field of education.
Çavuşoğlu also briefed Joof about the situation of Gambian students in the TRNC, stating that Gambian students had adjusted well to life in the TRNC.
He pointed out that the ‘Student Friendly Island project’ was being implemented and that universities in the TRNC provided quality education, Minister Çavuşoğlu noted that university students from over 144 different countries were receiving higher education in a peaceful environment.
He added that the Ministry was doing all it could to ensure that foreign students in the TRNC were able to complete their education in a peaceful environment.
Gambian Vice President Badara Alieu Joof for his part stated that he believed that cooperation could be expanded between the two countries in the field of education, as well as in other fields.
Joof also thanked Minister Çavuşoğlu for the sensitivity shown to Gambian students.
