The 1st Family Workshop is taking place in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus under the auspices of the Presidency.
The workshop, which President Ersin Tatar is also attending began this morning and will last for two days.
The workshop organized by the Presidential Social Support Committee and the Cyprus Vakıflar Administration is being held under the auspices of the Presidency, under the leadership of First Lady Sibel Tatar.
Addressing the workshop, President Ersin Tatar said that Turkish Cypriot society attached great importance to the concept of family and children.
He said that the successful struggle waged by the Turkish Cypriot people was owed to the strong family bonds and structure they possessed.
First Lady Sibel Tatar in her address said that strong and successful societies could only be created through strong families and well raised children.
The Turkish Ambassador to Lefkoşa Ali Murat Başçeri who also spoke at the workshop said that Turkish societies, since the beginning of history, attached great importance to family and women.
He however pointed out that family structures were constantly changing as a result in developments in technology, economic trends and shifts in social relations.
The Turkish ambassador said it was important to support family structures to ensure a sustainable future for society.
More than 30 institutions, organizations and approximately 200 individuals from various institutions including experts from the Republic of Turkiye’s Ministry of Family are taking part in the workshop which will focus on domestic issues and the impact of divorce on family life.
