1st of August Communal Resistance Day is being celebrated across TRNC

The 1st of August Communal Resistance Day is being celebrated across the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus with various ceremonies and events.

The celebrations which started on Wednesday will continue until the 1st of August.

The 1st of August Communal Resistance Day celebrations which mark the 46th anniversary of the Security Forces Command (GKK), the 64th anniversary of the Turkish Resistance Organization (TMT) and the 451st anniversary of the conquest of Cyprus by Ottomans stared on Wednesday.

According to a statement released by the Press Office of the Security Forces Command, the Resistance Road Race will be held on Monday, the 1st of August at 7am.

The 16-kilometer Road Run, which will start at the Headquarters of the Security Forces at Boğazköy will end in front of the TMT Fighters Association in Lefkoşa.

Awards will be given to top athletes at a ceremony to be held at the TMT Fighters Association at 10:15.

As part of the celebrations, wreaths will be laid at Atatürk monuments in Lefkoşa and all districts at 9:30am.

Wreath laying ceremonies will also be held at the Lefkoşa Martyrs’ Monument at 10am and at the Cumhuriyet Park Monument at 12pm.

The Security Forces Command will hold a reception at the GKK headquarters at Boğazköy at 7.30pm to mark the anniversary of the establishment of the Security Forces Command.

As part of the celebrations, all martyr’s cemeteries throughout the TRNC will be open to public visits.
