2021-2022 School Year begins

2021-2022 School Year has begun in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus.

Students who mostly received online education over the past two years due to the coronavirus pandemic returned to their classes on Monday.

The new school year at primary schools started this morning while secondary schools and vocational high schools will start the new school year on Tuesday.

Education at crowded primary schools will be held on a rotational basis.

Around 50 thousand students and 5 thousand 800 teachers from both public and private schools are returning to schools as part of face to face education which was interrupted due to the coronavirus pandemic since March 2020.

As part of the Ministry of National Education and Culture’s Health Plan for the 2021-2022 School Year protection measures, infection tracking and prevention procedures will be implemented at schools within the framework of the decisions announced by the Higher Committee for Infectious Diseases.

Accordingly, “pandemic councils” will be established at all schools by the school administrators and “Contact Cases” and a “Positive Case Protocol” will be implemented if a positive case is detected at schools.

According to the 2021-2022 School Year Program, the half-term holiday at schools is between 1st and 13th of February and the second semester of 2021-2022 School year will start on Monday the 14th of February.
