State and government officials have issued messages to mark the 84th anniversary of the death of the great Turkish leader Mustafa Kemal Atatürk.
President Ersin Tatar, Parliamentary Speaker Zorlu Töre, Prime Minister Ünal Üstel and deputy Prime Minister, Minister for Tourism, Culture, Youth and Environment Fikri Ataoğlu all issued messages commemorating the great leader.
President Ersin Tatar in his message said that the values, works and achievements created by the Turkish nation under the leadership of Atatürk continue to guide the Turkish Cypriots under all circumstances.
“The Great Leader Mustafa Kemal Atatürk; As we remember you with respect, longing and love on the 84th anniversary of your passing into eternity, we embrace the principles, values and mission you have left us with a great sense of responsibility and determination” wrote Tatar and added that the Turkish Cypriots have adopted the slogan of freedom and independence, while protecting its sovereignty.
He added that the Republic of Türkiye, which is the legacy of Atatürk is the greatest source of assurance for the freedom of the Turkish Cypriot people and will live in happiness and well-being forever.
In his message, the Speaker of Parliament Zorlu Töre wrote “It is our primary duty to protect the works that Atatürk entrusted to us, to transfer these sacred values to the future generations, to maintain our commitment to his principles forever, and to walk towards the goal he set on the path he opened.”
Prime Minister Ünal Üstel in his message noted that the great Turkish leader Mustafa Kemal Atatürk was a rare statesman in the world who was devoted to his homeland and put the defence of his homeland above everything else.
“Mustafa Kemal Atatürk has accomplished great things that will be taken as an example by all the states of the world, and has laid the foundations of a democratic and modern Türkiye, thanks to the many revolutions he has made in political, social, economic and legal fields” Üstel wrote and added that the Turkish Cypriots, will continue to move forward with faith and determination in the light of the principles and revolutions of Mustafa Kemal Atatürk.
Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Tourism, Culture, Youth and Environment, Democrat Party Chairman Fikri Ataoğlu in his message also noted that they commemorate the founder of the Turkish Republic, Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, on the 84th anniversary of his death with respect and longing.
