Turkish Minister for National Defence Hulusi Akar on Friday criticised Greece’s provocative polices in the Eastern Mediterranean and the Aegean.
Delivering a speech during an event, Akar drew attention to the fact that some politicians in Greece preferred to escalate tensions instead of finding solutions to problems.
He also emphasized that Turkey will never allow the NauticalGeo research vessel to violate Turkey’s continental shelf.
While also giving a message to the Greek Cypriot Administration, Akar noted that no solution could be produced without acknowledging the Turkish presence on the island.
He added that the only way to a solution was through two sovereign states.
Noting that Turkey aims to find political solutions to its problems with Greece within the framework of international law through dialogue and through good neighborly relations, Akar said, “We want the peoples of both sides to live in safety and prosperity in an environment of peace and tranquility”.
Emphasizing that Greece and the Greek Cypriot administration are under the illusion that they can achieve something through military exercises and drills, Akar drew attention to the fact that Greece, especially in recent years, is favoring armament with the encouragement and provocation of some other countries.
“We call on Greece to use common sense as it is not possible to continue on this path” said Akar.
