Turkish Minister of National Defence Hulusi Akar who evaluated the US’ decision to lift the arms embargo on the Greek Cypriot Administration said, “Whatever you do, the Turkish soldiers are on duty 24/7.

We have taken our precautions not to allow any fait accompli.”

Turkish National Defence Minister Hulusi Akar attended the opening ceremony of the 2022-2023 Academic Year of the National Defence University’s Air Force Academy on Wednesday.

Speaking at the ceremony, Akar stressed that Türkiye was determined to use its guarantor rights and to fulfil its responsibilities in Cyprus.

Reminding that the Greek Cypriot Administration had been supported recently, he noted that Turkish soldiers were on duty 24/7 and that Türkiye had taken necessary measures not to allow any fait accompli.

“We say ‘we will not allow violation of our rights, we will not allow a fait accompli’. Do not perceive this as a threat. On the other hand, we say ‘let’s talk, let’s have dialogue’. Don’t take this as a weakness. We are determined to protect our rights and interests and we are capable of doing this,” Akar stressed.
