Turkish Minister for National Defence Hulusi Akar evaluated the Greek-Greek Cypriot duo’s initiatives in the Aegean and in the Eastern Mediterranean during his presentation of his ministry’s 2022 budget at the Turkish Grand National Assembly.

Pointing out that no result could be obtained from the solution methods put forward in Cyprus until today, Akar said “It has become clear that it is not possible to proceed with the negotiations until the Turkish Cypriot people’s sovereign equality and equal international status is accepted. The only solution possible in Cyprus is the one which will be based on sovereign equality of two independent separate states.”

“Cyprus is our national cause” he said and added that in line with the Guarantee and Alliance Agreements they would always support the Turkish Cypriot people.

“We are determined and capable of protecting our rights and those of the Turkish Cypriots both in the Aegean and in the Eastern Mediterranean” Akar stressed.
