TRNC President Ersin Tatar has given a strong and clear message to the international community that Turkey supports a two-state solution in Cyprus, Turkey’s Presidential Communications Director Fahrettin Altun said Monday.

Speaking at a workshop in Istanbul, he said that Tatar was giving out this message at every international platform, more recently at the Turkic Council Media Forum earlier this year.

“President Tatar by attending this forum explained to the participants why Cyprus is important for the Turkic world,” Altun said, adding that the TRNC president had achieved important gains in terms of attaining political recognition for the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus by highlighting that North Cyprus was the Turkic World’s bastion in the Eastern Mediterranean.

Altun also said that an important and critical decision had been taken during the meeting of the Heads of State of the Turkic Council to transform the council into the Turkic States Organisation.
