Türkiye will always stand by the Turkish Cypriot people in their struggle for their rights and equality and will continue to contribute to the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, in order for it to become stronger every passing day.
These words belong to the Turkish Ambassador to Lefkoşa Ali Murat Başçeri who delivered a televised speech on BRT, marking the beginning of the 99th anniversary celebration of the Republic of Türkiye in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus.
In his speech on BRT, The Turkish Ambassador to Lefkoşa Ali Murat Başçeri praised the achievements of the Turkish nation that was founded under the leadership of the Great Leader Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, 99 years ago.
“Our country, which has survived every attempt to be brought down, continues on its way faster and more determined than before” said Başçeri.
He said that with its ever-increasing visibility, efficiency and competitive power, Türkiye is a country whose opinions are sought, whose suggestions are listened to, taken into account and a country that finds solutions to crises, especially in the international arena and especially in the region.
He said that Türkiye, with its wise and benevolent diplomacy, creates a zone of peace, prosperity and stability in its region and beyond, and always prioritizes dialogue and diplomacy in the solution of regional and global crises.
Touching upon the Cyprus issue, the Turkish Ambassador said that until today Türkiye’s and the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus’s efforts towards a solution have unfortunately not been rewarded.
“At this point, a just, permanent and sustainable solution is only possible through the registration of the sovereign equality and equal international status, which are the vested rights of the Turkish Cypriot people” said Başçeri and added that Türkiye fully supports the will of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus.
Ambassador Başçeri emphasized that everyone should accept, that any equation in the Eastern Mediterranean, where Türkiye and the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus do not take place fairly, cannot produce peace and stability.
Recalling that Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan made a historic call at the United Nations General Assembly in September to end the persecution of the Turkish Cypriots, who are trying to be separated from the world with embargoes, in contradiction with the United Nations principles, and to recognize the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, Ambassador Başçeri said that this constitutes the main axis of the policy of the Republic of Türkiye.
Stating that Türkiye will always stand by the Turkish Cypriots who have the courage to define their own destiny by rejecting the impositions and choose a free and dignified life path on the basis of equality, Başçeri said, that the distance covered by the Turkish Cypriot people and Türkiye in their fight for their existence and freedom is successful due to the unity and solidarity of the two countries.
Emphasizing that next year the 100th anniversary of the Republic will be celebrated and that they are proud of being a great Nation and State, Ambassador Başçeri said, “As the Great Leader Mustafa Kemal Atatürk pointed out when declaring the Republic on the 29th of October 1923 at the Turkish Grand National Assembly, ‘the Republic of Türkiye will be happy, successful and victorious.’”
