Amcaoğlu met with his Tr. counterpart Özer and Tr. Vice-President Oktay

The Minister of National Education and Culture Olgun Amcaoğlu who is in Ankara for a series of official contacts came together with Turkish Minister of National Education Mahmut Özer and his delegation on Tuesday.

The ongoing cooperation in the field of education between the two countries was taken up during the meeting held at the education ministry.

Speaking there, Turkish Minister Özer said that such meetings served to further strengthen existing ties between the two countries.

Noting that the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus with its self-devoted people, modern institutions and pluralist democracy was a fast-growing state, the Turkish Minister said, “The TRNC and our Turkish Cypriot brothers and sisters have a special place in our hearts. Our unity and solidarity is the most important guarantee for a brighter future of the Turkish Cypriot people.”

Expressing the belief that the cooperation between the two countries in the field of education will continue to improve, Özer said, “We consider the introduction of the digital platform EBA which was developed by our ministry and made available to teachers and students in your country as a cornerstone in our cooperation. We are also pleased that the TRNC has substantially completed work such as software and the adaptation of curriculum on EBA in a short period of time.”

TRNC Minister Amcaoğlu for his part expressed his happiness from being in Turkey.

Stating that the support provided by Turkey on digital education, service training, vocational education and materials were very important for the 53,000 students and 6000 teachers in the TRNC, he thanked Turkey for its support.

Meanwhile, as part of his other contacts in Ankara, Amcaoğlu was also received by Turkish Vice-President Fuat Oktay at the Presidential Complex.

The further strengthening of vocational education in the TRNC as well as other issues such as increasing the efficiency of the current labour force in the TRNC was also evaluated during the meeting.

Amcaoğlu also came together with the President of the Ankara Chamber of Commerce Görsel Baran, and the President of the Council of Higher Education Prof. Dr. Erol Özvar.
