Ataoğlu and Ersoy meet

The Turkish Minister of Culture and Tourism Nuri Ersoy who is in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) for a series of contacts met with the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Tourism, Culture, Youth and Environment Fikri Ataoğu on Wednesday.

The two discussed ways of enhancing collaboration between their respective ministries as well as increasing the flow of tourists from Türkiye to the TRNC in 2023.

Meeting with the Turkish Minister of Culture and Tourism Mehmet Nuri Ersoy at the Ministry of Tourism, Deputy Prime Minister Fikri Ataoğlu said that Türkiye’s contribution to TRNC’s tourism was an undeniable fact.

He thanked the Turkish Minister for Türkiye’s contribution to the renovation of the Museum of Barbarism.

For his part, Turkish Minister Ersoy thanked Minister Ataoğlu for the warm reception he was receiving in the TRNC.

He said that the Museum of Barbarism was extremely important in making sure that the bitter experiences of the past were not relived.

Touching upon cooperation carried out between the two countries in the past, Ersoy said that they will continue their efforts to help promote Turkish Cypriot culture in Türkiye and abroad.

He added that with the pandemic subsiding and the new airport soon to come into service, the plan was to increase the number of tourists visiting the island.

“We will ensure a steady flow of foreign tourists via Türkiye in 2023,” Ersoy added.
