The Leader of the Democrat Party, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Tourism and Environment Fikri Ataoğlu also condemned the heinous attack on Larnaca Grand Mosque, in South Cyprus.

“The Greek Cypriots added another racist attack onto their list! I strongly condemn this ugly attack on the Larnaca Grand Mosque. The Greek Cypriot Authorities must immediately take necessary action within the framework of the responsibility to protect the freedom of worship, the sanctity of places of worship,” Ataoğlu said in a written statement.

These outrageous attempts are a primitive reflection of racist and ill-minded mentalities. It should not be forgotten that these attacks not only target the Muslims, but constitute a common threat to all humanity, he said.

Ataoğlu added “We expect the Greek Cypriot Administration to prevent such attacks and follow up on the incident with sensitivity”.
