The short film Bambu (Bamboo) that gives a glimpse into the lives of individuals with special needs was screened on Tuesday night at the Rauf Raif Denktaş Culture and Congress Centre in Gazimağusa.
President Ersin Tatar and many moviegoers showed great interest in the first screening of the film.
The short film Bambu which gives room to the lives of individuals with special needs and aims to raise awareness, was written by Atakan Bayraktaroğlu and Nazım Bayraktaroğlu, and directed by Nazım Bayraktaroğlu.
Prior to the screening of the film, screenwriter and director Nazım Bayraktaroğlu said their aim was to increase sensitivity towards individuals with special needs.
Head Teacher of the Gazi Mağusa Special Education and Job Training School Emirali Evcimen expressed the belief that people will become more aware of the needs of individuals with special needs.
President Ersin Tatar for his part emphasized that the struggle to overcome the difficulties of individuals with special needs will continue, and added that once the special education law that is pending in parliament is approved, the situation of those with special needs will be improved.
