Martyrs of Taşpınar and Beyarmudu were commemorated with special ceremonies.
A ceremony was held in front of the Beyarmudu Martyrs Monument for the Beyarmudu martyrs on Sunday.
The ceremony in front of the Beyarmudu Martyrs Monument began with the laying of wreaths.
Shots were fired, a minute silence was observed and flags were raised to the national anthem.
Addressing the event, the Mayor of Beyarmudu İlker Edip said that it was one of their important duties to remember the six martyrs who fell during the national struggle years.
Stressing the importance of reaching a just and comprehensive solution under the guarantee of Türkiye, Edip said their biggest aim was to perpetuate the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus.
The Speaker of Parliament Zorlu Töre also attended and addressed the ceremony.
Reminding that the Turkish Cypriot People had suffered a lot, had to migrate and some had been massacred in the past, Töre however added that they never gave up their resistance and struggle.
Noting that many people were martyred in the country, he said we came to these days as a result of their struggle.
Stressing that the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus was gifted to us by the Mujahids and the Turkish soldiers, Töre said “we need to appreciate this.”
Stating that the national cause was being carried out by Turkish Cypriots and motherland Türkiye, he said “our subject is the Turkish nation.”
The Parliamentary Speaker also added that it will be a betrayal to the martyrs to end the TRNC which was entrusted to us by the martyrs and war veterans and to remove the guarantorship.
“Turkish soldiers and mujahids died together on these soils. We are always ready to become mujahids, resistance fighters and soldiers” Töre said.
