Bayrak Radio Television is celebrating the 59th anniversary of its establishment.
The Director of Bayrak Radio Television Corporation Meryem Özkurt and the Chairman of the Corporation’s Board of Directors Salih Can Doratlı paid a visit to President Ersin Tatar on Tuesday.
The BRTK Director invited the president to the anniversary reception which will take place on Friday.
President Ersin Tatar who spoke during the visit said that BRTK had an important mission to voice the just cause of the Turkish Cypriot people to the world.
The Director of Bayrak Radio Television Corporation Meryem Özkurt and the Chairman of the BRTK’s Board of Directors embarked on a series of visits on Tuesday in line with tradition to mark the public broadcasting corporation’s 59th anniversary.
Paying the first visit to President Ersin Tatar, Director Özkurt invited the president to the annual anniversary reception which will take place at 11am on Friday at the BRTK premises.
Speaking during the visit, Özkurt said that BRTK carried out its broadcasts via three TV channels, 6 radio stations, a website and various social media platforms.
She said that by December 23, all private TV channels in the TRNC will be included in the Smart TV project.
For his part, President Ersin Tatar said that BRTK had taken on an important and sacred mission to voice the just cause of the Turkish Cypriot people to the world and to carry out impartial broadcasting in the country.
He also drew attention to growing competition within the media and the need to keep up with the changing times.
“I would like to thank everyone working at BRTK, the technical teams, the reporters, the technicians, all of whom exert great efforts under difficult conditions, working in shifts,” Tatar said.
The president concluded his remarks by remembering the corporation’s late directors who played a role in its development.
