The Minister of Public Works and Commmunications Resmiye Eroğlu Canaltay continues to attend the 12th Transport and Communication Forum taking place in Istanbul, Turkey.
Speaking at a meeting during the forum, Minister Canaltay said that the TRNC’s current goal was to set up a fibre optic network in the country and to switch to 4.5/5G internet.
She said that a fibre optic network will have a positive impact in all areas of life.
The minister of public works and communications said that they were also carrying out work to popularize the use of vehicles which use electricity through renewable energy.
Also touching upon the newly constructed terminal building at Ercan airport, Canaltay said that they were planning to inaugurate the new terminal on November 15.
She added that the new airport, the most modern in the region, carried the potential of becoming a popular centre for many airlines.
Canaltay also spoke of plans to expand and develop the country’s sea ports.
The minister concluded her speech by calling on foreign countries to cooperate with and invest in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus.
