The Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu has said that Turkiye was the most feasible route for transferring the energy resources in the Eastern Mediterranean to Europe.
He added that these resources should be transferred to Europe via Cyprus.
Çavuşoğlu was speaking during a live program on Turkish news channel NTV on Thursday.
“There were attempts in the past to exclude Turkiye. However, we saw that none of these ideas were feasible when it came to putting them into action. Now, our President Erdoğan’s proposal to the European Union to hold a conference on energy resources in the Eastern Mediterranean has started to see acceptance,” he said.
Noting that the EastMed Pipeline Project was not a feasible project, Çavuşoğlu said “We see that Israel has rich reserves. In order for these to reach the international and European markets the most economic itinerary is through Cyprus and Turkey. The TRNC has made three proposals for the fair distribution of these resources. Everyone will benefit from this.”
