Date Added: 25 July 2022

The Minister of National Education Nazım Çavuşoğlu will fly to the Turkish capital, Ankara tomorrow.

As part of his two day visit, Minister Çavuşoğlu will hold contacts with officials from the Turkish National Education Ministry, the Turkish Council of Higher Education (YÖK), the Student Selection and Placement Centre (ÖSYM) and with Turkish Vice-President Fuat Oktay on the issue of GCSE and A-Level exams.

Speaking at a program on BRT on Monday, the National Education Minister Nazım Çavuşoğlu evaluated the first prize received by the Sedat Simavi Industrial Vocational High School students at the TEKNOFEST with an electric vehicle called “İlke” and congratulated all teachers, administrators and students who had signatures on this success.

“I had visited them during the preparation phase. They were very motivated. This success was obvious. They believed, worked and succeeded” he said.

“The TEKNOFEST is a large scale festival which vocational schools compete in. We as a team came first outdistancing all vocational schools. We also came first in best performance and pro video categories. This bolstered our education community’s morale. I hope that next year our students will continue their studies with new models and researches which will be for the benefit of the humanity” Çavuşoğlu said.

Responding to a question regarding the participation of contractors to the tenders, he said “unfortunately, this is not at a level we wanted. They started to participate in small tenders. However, the big tenders are pending. We asked them to exclude education from these actions. Every minute counts for us. We have lost a lot of time. The problem cannot be solved completely yet. Unit prices were renewed, we are waiting for the upcoming tenders.”

Stating that contingencies at the universities were brought down when they came to office, Çavuşoğlu said this was corrected by the Turkish Council of Higher Education (YÖK).

Commenting on the aim of his upcoming Ankara visit, he reminded that some decisions were taken by the YÖK on the GCSE and A-Level exams adding that he will be holding several contacts on this issue.
