Celebrations to mark children’s day continue

The 23rd of April National Sovereignty and Children’s Day, gifted to children by the founder of the Republic of Turkiye, Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, is being celebrated with ceremonies and activities across the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus.

On April 23rd the Minister of National Education Nazım Çavuşoğlu will be delivering a speech on Bayrak Radio Television at 8am.

A ceremony will take place in front of the Atatürk monument in the capital Lefkoşa at 10am.

Similar ceremonies will take place throughout all districts.

All schools throughout the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus are holding their own ceremony and celebrations in line with the day.

Within the framework of events taking place a group of children paid separate visits today to the Minister of National Education Nazım Çavuşoğlu, the Speaker of Parliament Zorlu Töre, President Ersin Tatar and Prime Minister Faiz Sucuoğlu.

The children also took part a Council of Ministers meeting.

Bayrak Radio Television Corporation broadcast a special programme today within the framework of the celebrations.

Six students from the TRNC, Turkiye, the UK and Azerbaijan took part in the program together with the Minister of National Education Nazim Çavuşoğlu.

In line with the celebrations, the Ministry of National Education in cooperation with the Lefkoşa Turkish Municipality organised the “23 April Children’s Festival”.

Activities at the festival will continue throughout the day and students from schools throughout the capital Lefkoşa will alternately attend the festival.

The festival consists of a trip to Atatürk’s Children Painting and Photography Exhibition, storey telling sessions and outdoor fun and games.

The exhibition will remain open until April 26.
