Ceremonies to be held to mark 48th anniversary of Yeşilırmak Resistance

The 48th anniversary of the Yeşilırmak Resistance and its liberation from surrounding Greek-Greek Cypriot forces will be commemorated today with ceremonies to be held in the area.

Two separate ceremonies will be held at the village to remember those who fell during the resistance put up.

According to information released by the Lefke District Office, the first ceremony which will be held at the Yeşilırmak martyrs’ cemetery will start at 5pm.

Wreaths will be laid, a minutes silence will be observed before the raising of the flags to the national anthem, the special book will be signed and prayers will be read out during the ceremony.

The second ceremony which will be held in front of the bust of Atatürk will start at 5:30pm.
