Changes to test requirements at crossing borders have been made

Changes have been made to the procedures at crossing points between the North and South of the island.

As of September 27 those who have been fully vaccinated will be able to cross from the border crossings without providing a PCR or rapid test.

Those who have not been vaccinated will need to provide a PCR or Rapid test that has been carried out in the last 72 hours.

According to a statement made by the United Nations Peace Keeping Forces Spokesperson as per the agreement of the leader of the Greek Cypriot administration Nicos Anastasiades and President Ersin Tatar, as of the June 2, to synchronize the two sides’ respective Covid-19 measures concerning crossings, the Technical Committee on Health has continuously assessed the epidemiological situation.

They have also exchanged data on a bi-weekly basis in order to determine the appropriate epidemiological level to be applied at the crossing points, adjusting measures, as appropriate the statement read.

Based on the Committees assessment of September 23 2021, the situation is determined to be at Level 2-Orange, where the following measures will be applied at all crossing points as of Monday 27 September as of 8am.

Level 2 Orange means that no tests are required for fully vaccinated persons.

A 72-hour negative rapid or PCR test will need to be provided by unvaccinated persons with the exception of high school students and people residing in Kato Pyrgos who will instead need to provide a seven-day negative rapid test or PCR test.
