A meeting was held on Wednesday with representatives of Citrus producers under the chairmanship of Turkish Ambassador to Lefkoşa Metin Feyzioğlu.
Discussions focused on addressing the problems of citrus growers in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC).
An agreement was reached to hold such meetings every two months.
Citrus exporters, officials from the TRNC Citrus Exporters Association, the Department of Exports at the Ministry of Economy and Energy, the Customs Office of the Ministry of Finance and the Agriculture Department met on Wednesday at the Turkish Embassy in Lefkoşa under the chairmanship of Turkish Ambassador to Lefkoşa Metin Feyzioğlu.
Problems experienced in exporting citrus produce grown in the TRNC and ways to increase production were discussed during the meeting.
The setting up of a lab in the TRNC capable of carrying out tests on produce, the purchase of equipment to be used in customs as well as upgrading packaging plants were also among the issues discussed during the meeting.
An agreement was reached to hold such meetings regularly, at least once every two months.
