The European Union’s Assistance Programme for the Turkish Cypriot community signed a new agreement to support the Committee on Missing Persons (CMP).
An additional contribution of €2.6m will be made to the work of the Committee on Missing Persons (CMP) in 2023, it was announced on Tuesday.
The agreement is the fourteenth renewed agreement between the European Commission and the United Nations Development Programme.
In a written statement issued by the Representation of the European Commission in Cyprus, it was stated that the European Commission, which has provided the highest amount of funds to the work of the CMP since 2006 with a total contribution of €35.8m, has demonstrated its strong commitment to peace building and reconciliation efforts in Cyprus.
Since 2006, the Committee on Missing Persons has identified the remains of 1028 missing persons from both communities and returned them to their families.
